Eluru: District SP Bhaskar Bhushan observed that 75 per cent deaths are occurring on account of head injuries as the bike riders are not wearing helmets.

After flagging off the helmet bike rally organised by Eluru city’s traffic police as part of Traffic Safety Week on Wednesday, the SP said that after the state got divided in 2014, 23512 road accidents occurred in the state and 7,862 persons lost their lives besides 29.791 received injuries.

Giving break-up details of accidents in the districts, the SP said that in November last year, nearly 7,837 people died due to road accidents.

In order to avoid accidents, bike riders should compulsorily wear helmets to save their lives.

Additional SP V Ratna, Eluru DSP G Venkateswara Rao Traffic DSP A Srinivasa Rao, CI Pydibabu, Town CIs Bangarraju, N Rajasekhar and others also participated in the inauguration of bike rally. The bike rally passed through the main roads of Narasimharaopeta.
