Woman held for 41 burglaries

Visakhapatnam: The city police on Wednesday arrested a 40-year-old woman for her involvement in 41 burglaries in Vizag city, Vizianagaram and East Godavari districts.

They also recovered around 500 gm gold ornaments and investigation is on to recover 2.5 kgs of gold from her associates. The arrested was identified as Yendeti Ganga alias Kumari, a resident of Kancharapaelm in Vizag city.

The police said Ganga was arrested in 2013, but resumed her activities after getting a bail to lead lavish life.

Ganga is not only involved in property offences, but also in Immoral Trafficking of Women and illegal transportation of ganja and several cases were pending against her.

City Police Chief T Yoganand said that Ganga, a school dropout, has chosen crime route in 1992 to overcome her financial crisis and extended her operation in Vizag, Vizianagaram, East Godavari and West Godavari districts.

Ganga married one Appala Raju and later she married Viswanadha Reddy and has two daughters.

However, the couple was separated over a few issues and she again married Kosaraju Narasimha Rao alias Shiva, who is also a property offender.

Ganga, along with her husband, was involved in house breakings and 150 property offences till 2013. A total of 17 non-bailable warrants have been pending against her in different courts in Vizag city and she was listed under dossier criminal under Kancharapalem police station limits.

Though Ganga was arrested in 2013 and sent to judicial remand, she didn’t give-up crime. She, along with her husband, moved to East Godavari and committed property offences.

Yoganand said from 2014 to 2016, Ganga, along with her associates, committed as many as 41 property offences under Pendurthi, Gajuwaka, Malkapuram, New Port, Bheemili, Gopalapatnam, police station limits in Vizag city besides in East Godavari and Vizianagaram districts.
