The CPM State secretariat member Ch Narasinga Rao was arrested at his house at 5 am itself and the police began putting hurdles to the peace rally taken out from the Vuda Central Park to the R K Beach.

District Secretary K Lokanadham and city secretary B Ganga Rao alleged that the TDP government has created a war-like situation in the city more than that of the ‘Emergency’ declared by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The leaders demanded the Centre accord SCS, special package funds for Uttarandhra, separate railway zone for Vizag and national educational institutions as was promised.
