Tirupati: YSRCP State vice-president and Punganur MLA Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy strongly condemned the illegal arrests of protesters’ who were agitating for Special Category Status (SCS) State-wide on Thursday.

Speaking to the media, Peddireddy who was placed under house arrest here by the police as a precautionary measure fumed fire on the State government alleging that it was unleashing terror on the youth who were peacefully protesting on the SCS issue at various places including Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Kakinada. He said the government is acting in a desperate manner hell bent on crushing the popular agitation across the State.

He flayed the Chief Minister for resorting to arrests of students, youth and opposition party leaders. He said the countdown for Chandrababu Naidu government has begun. Peddireddy warned of intensifying the stir if the arrested and detained were not released immediately.

Meanwhile, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy said that party MLAs and MPs are ready to resign, responding to party president call to build pressure on the Centre to accord SCS.
