Hyderabad: Demanding an ombudsman to check the “massive corruption” by Central Minister for Science and Techonology Sujana Chowdary and MP Rayapati Samba Siva Rao, the Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan on Friday said Rao was favoured with huge contracts in the Polavaram irrigation project while Sujana Chowdary defaulted on bank loans.
Pawan announced that he would hold a peaceful protest “Dakshina Bharateeyula Atmagaurva Santiyuta Nirasana” at RK Beach in Visakhapatnam in March to register protest against failure of the Centre to grant special status to Andhra Pradesh.
At a press conference here, Pawan Kalyan took strong objection to the Union minister Sujana Chowdary drawing parallel between Jallikattu and a pig race. He said the minister’s comments had hurt the sentiments of the people and alleged that the Minister was also involved in duping banks after taking huge loans.
The Union Minister, however, denied the charges and said that it was painful to hear such charges. All through his business life he had not borrowed a single rupee or ditched any bank, he said.
If that were to be so, the banks would have initiated legal action. If they faced any problem at sometime or the other like any other business houses, they might have got delayed on repayments of installments but they never committed any economic offences, he said.
Referring to the alleged irregularities committed by Narsaraopet MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao’s company, Pawan said Mulalanka farmers from Polavaram project area had met him and explained how the fertile lands have been used as the dumping yards of Polavaram project mud.
He expressed his disappointment on the political leaders and questioned Rao over Polavaram dumping yard issue and also for ignoring the concerns of the farmers. Reacting to Pawan’s allegations, Rayapati’s son R Rangababu denied the allegations made by the JSP leader.
Rangababu said that they had not evaded repayment of loans taken from any bank nor did they resort to dumping waste material in the lands of the farmers.
