Nellore: All India Road Transport Workers Union Secretary Sk Muzafar demanded that the Union government should abolish GO 894.

Road Transport Joint Action Committee members under the aegis of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) took out a massive rally from BV Nagar to RTA office shouting slogans against the Central and State governments.

They submitted a memorandum to Deputy Transport Commissioner N Sivaram Prasad.

Speaking to the mediapersons, Muzafar said that the State government has been collecting pending fees through Road Transport Department Authorities. With this, workers who rely on the Transport Department for their livelihood were facing severe problems.

He also said that the Road Transport Authorities have been imposing challans on heavy vehicles from Rs 18,000 to Rs 32,000.

He warned that they would lay siege to the office of the department on February 7 with the support of all trade unions if the government failed to abolish the GO.
