Palacole MLA says aquaculture is poised to earn use foreign exchange

Palacole: Palacole MLA Nimmala Ramanaidu said that due to initiatives taken by the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, the aquaculture industry was in a position to earn foreign currency.

He along with Narsapur MLA Bandaru Madhava Naidu and MLC Meka Seshu Babu inaugurated the 13th Aqua Tech Expo-2017 at Bhaggeswaram village in Palacole Mandal on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that the district stood in the first place as an aqua hub in the state and steps have been taken up for the development of the aqua sector in the district. earlier, aqua farmers used to experience administration hurdles to get permissions to dig aqua tanks in the district. After the TDP came to power, the CM introduced a single window system to get permissions for digging aqua tanks, he stated. He listed out the efforts taken up by the government saying that aqua-allied industries, cold storages of sea products, shipping harbours in the coastal area of the state are being set up in the State, in addition to promoting the tourism sector in the State.

Aquaculture sector is growing at a rapid pace and is providing greater employment avenues to the youth and farmers in the district, added Narsapur MLA. The Government was going to sanction Rs.5.60 lakhs as a subsidy amount to set up solar power system for the borewells of aqua tanks, he stated.

MLC Meka Seshu Babu suggested the government to set up cold storages for the aqua products as they will enable the farmers to preserve their produce until they get a good price.

On this occasion, MLA felicitated the best aqua farmer with a shawl and garlanding him. Palcole Municipal Chairman Vallabhu Narayana Murthy, ZPTC member Kodi Vijayalakshmi, Mandal Preident Penumatsa Sridevi, Delta fish farmers’ president V Ramachandra Raju, vice president Polisetty Satyanarayana, aqua consultant Ajay Bhaskar, Aquatech monthly chief organiser Kona Joseph and others participated in the inaugural event of expo.
