District Sports Authority to conduct 5-K Run

Visakhapatnam: To popularise sports among all sections of people, the District Sports Authority has proposed to conduct 5-K Run, named as ‘Visakha Simhadri 5-K Run’ at 6 am on February 5 from Kalimatha temple to YMCA on the R K Beach Road and back, according to District Sports Development Officer June Gallyot She said here on Saturday that the event will be conducted in two categories-men and women (above 17 years), boys and girls (below 17 years). About the cash prizes for each category, she said that first prize is Rs 7,000, second prize Rs 5,000, third prize Rs 3,000, fourth prize Rs 2,000 and fifth prize Rs 1,000.

The DSDO asked those interested to participate register their names with the District Sports Authority at the Swarna Bharathi Indoor Stadium, Gate No.3, Room No 14, Rasapuvanipalem from January 30 to February 2 between 10 am and 5 pm.

The candidates should produce date of birth certificate issued by a competent authority, fitness certificate given by a doctor, declaration certificate by the parent/head master/principal at the time of registration. Further information can be obtained over Ph No: 0891-2705392, she added.
