Vijayawada: Ramesh Ranganathan, acting Chief Justice of High Court of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States, said that judiciary takes the responsibility of protecting child rights in the State. He said Juvenile Act 2015 will protect the rights of children and it will be used to safeguard the children.

Justice Ramesh Ranganathan on Saturday inaugurated the Child Friendly Legal Services scheme and their protection programme jointly organised by the Andhra Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) and Krishna District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) at the Sub-Collector’s office here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Ramesh Ranganathan said that judiciary has the major responsibility how the society can move in a friendly nature with children and how the Legal Acts are useful to backward sections of society. He further stated that courts will serve to the needs of the people and protect their rights with the available Acts and laws. Krishna District Principal Judge Y Lakshmana Rao said that the District Legal Services Authority will take forward the scheme to implement Child Friendly Legal Services and provide protection to child rights.

Former registrar of Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Law University A Subramanyam felt that Children Acts and rights are not strictly implemented in the country. He pointed out protection of children rights is very much essential to safeguard the children.

Krishna District Collector Babu A, Vijayawada City Police Commissioner D Gautam Sawang, Deputy Police Commissioner GVG Ashok Kumar, Andhra Pradesh Legal Services Authority member secretary PV Rambabu, district secretary PR Raju and others were present.
