Nepal, Canadian teams visit Visakhapatnam port

An official team of Nepal comprising Minister of Commerce  Romi Gouchan Thakali, Minister of Economic Affairs  K H Pushkar and Joint Secretary of Ministry of Commerce  Rabi Sankar Sainju  visited the Visakhapatnam port here on Saturday.

Visakhapatnam: An official team of Nepal comprising Minister of Commerce Romi Gouchan Thakali, Minister of Economic Affairs K H Pushkar and Joint Secretary of Ministry of Commerce Rabi Sankar Sainju visited the Visakhapatnam port here on Saturday.

Port deputy chairman P L Haranadh received the team and apprised about the infrastructure available at the port especially about container traffic. He briefed them that the container traffic could be directly loaded from the terminal to Birgunj without any hindrance as the port has well integrated with POS and PCS e-Office system.

He said that they are eagerly looking forward for better trade with Nepal government. The Minister of Commerce felt that the Nepal government is keen and interested in movement of the cargo through containers with the support of VPT, VCTPL and CONCOR. He said that the customs clearance, electrification of railway tracks is very much essential for the faster movement of their cargo and requested the Indian government to look into the issue immediately to have better trade links between the two countries. He thanked the port and the VCPTL managements for their hospitality.

Meanwhile, a Canadian team comprising president and CEO of new Franchise Media Jefrey D Steiner , Principal and president George Papas, Principal and Vice President of No. 16 Hospitality Limited Harry Christakis also visited the port here on Saturday, along with the representatives of B V K Products and Services Surya Bezawada and Tulasi Rao Bezawada. Port Chairman M T Krishna Babu explained the facilities available. The Canadian team said that they are interested in doing business through VPT and came here to assess the facilities. The team members thanked Chairman Krishna Babu for his hospitality.
