Rajamahendravaram: BJP MLA Dr. Akula Satyanarayana observed that Vizag beach agitation that was taken up by youth on 26th January at the behest of film actor Pawan Kalyana and YSRCP chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy evoked lack of response from the public. When compared to Jallikattu on Marina beach and tank bund rally conducted in support of creation of Telangana state, Vizag beach protest clearly missed the spark.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the BJP MLA said that the protest rally taken up for ‘special category status to AP’ failed to muster adequate response from the public. The public speech made by both Pawan Kalyan and YS Jaganmohan Reddy did not enthuse the youth, he said. The BJP government at the Center is prepared to rectify its mistake. However, the star actor should restrain from blaming the BJP on special status to the AP.
It is unfortunate that Pawan Kalyan is misleading the public on the special package declared by the Centre and is indulging in making baseless allegations against the BJP, Dr. Akula Satyanarayana decried. The special package announced by the Centre benefits the State in two ways as the Polavaram project gets 100 percent grant from the Centre and it is declared as national project. The Centre is coming to the rescue of State by way of arranging for funding to the State from externally-aided projects. Although these are not forming part of SCS, the Centre has taken special interest to bail out the financially weakened AP.
He rebutted the statement of Pawan Kalyan that talking about South and North at this juncture shows his narrow-mindedness at a time when the entire world is treading the concept of global village.
Both Jaganmohan Reddy and former MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar did not show interest in taking part in a debate when the issue of SCS came up for a debate in the Parliament. It is bizarre that both these leaders are raising the bogey of SCS now, pointed out the BJP MLA.
