As the demand for the special status category in Andhra Pradesh continues, all the parties excluding TDP and BJP have been extending their support towards the cause.

While the YSRCP party are planning to introduce the private member bill on granting special status to AP in the Lok Sabha, Congress too has extended support to the bill. However, the TDP and BJP parties are calling it a closed chapter.

Addressing the media on the issue, BJP leader Daggubati Purandeswari clarified that the 14th Finance Commission has ruled out the chances of special status category.

Instead, the BJP leader stated that the Centre would grant special package and incentives for the development and the economic growth of AP adding that the state would get the special package as per the provisions of Reorganisation Act while the special status cannot be granted to any state according to the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission.
