Nellore: The Haridwar-based FMCG major Patanjali Group is setting up a manufacturing unit at Krishnapatnam shortly with a special focus on trade expansion in South India.

Its founder Baba Ramdev announced here at a media meet at Krishnapatnam along with Port management on Monday that they would shortly announce the ground-breaking date. He said they would start production within a year of foundation stone-laying ceremony.

  • Founder of the group, Baba Ramdev, announces that they would start a manufacturing unit in the port area to tap south Indian market
  • Also indicated his group will set up its Yoga, Ayurvedic, Naturopathy and Spiritual Tourism centres in the region with active support of the Port Management

“Andhra Pradesh has a very good business-friendly and social environment. Positive political environment and close association with the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also forced us to focus on south India. In fact, we don’t have big projects in the region and would shortly announce the date for laying foundation,” said Baba Ramdev.

MD of Patanjali Ayurved Acharya Balakrishna had announced last March about plans for setting up a manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh along with food parks in Madhya Pradesh and Punjab.

“We have a very huge food park in Haridwar and also in Noida in Uttar Pradesh, Nagpur in Maharashtra and Tezpur in Assam. The Tezpur unit had started in last March with an estimated annual turnover of Rs. 25,000 crore.

We are planning a huge unit for focussing on the South. Will provide you the good news shortly,” said the Yoga guru.

He said their products have presence in international markets like Australia, parts of Russia, China, Japan, USA, Africa, and Europe.

He also indicated his group will also set up its Yoga, Ayurvedic, Naturopathy and Spiritual Tourism centres in the region with active support of the Port Management. Ramdev said that they were trying to connect farmers with the industry purchasing the crop from them directly by encouraging them to cultivate crops using organic techniques with zero-investment.
