The various departments of the State government have sought more funds in the forthcoming budget. Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu conducted the review meeting at Interim Secretariat and received proposals from the Agriculture, Civil Supplies, Social Welfare, Tribal Welfare, Education, B.C Welfare, Excise, Transport, R&B departments.
Amaravati: The various departments of the State government have sought more funds in the forthcoming budget. Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu conducted the review meeting at Interim Secretariat and received proposals from the Agriculture, Civil Supplies, Social Welfare, Tribal Welfare, Education, B.C Welfare, Excise, Transport, R&B departments.
The Finance Minister requested the departments to allot additional funds without exhausting their budget allocations for the current financial year. On this occasion, Yanamala Ramakrishunudu said that highest priority should be given to CASP schemes.
The departments should spend the funds released by Government of India along with state share and furnish Utilisation Certificates to draw further instalments due, he said.
Departments shall give highest priority for the flagship programmes announced by Chief Minister, he said. Besides, the departments are advised to review their schemes on the lines of increasing the capital, operational and maintenance expenditure while reducing revenue expenditure.
The state government is committed to achieve 100 per cent literacy by 2019. The Finance Minister advised the education department officials to make ample budget allocations in this regard to achieve the said targets.
He also advised to take initiatives in the sector of Adult education to achieve the goal set by the CM for improving quality and standards in education. The education department should take steps for introducing Virtual Classrooms and digital education.
Apart from this, the education department was advised to tap the Government of India funds for Sarva Siksha Abhiyan programme fully. Welfare departments were urged to speed up the process of conversion of residential hostels on a priority basis.
Meanwhile, the Civil Supplies department was advised to run a campaign to bring awareness about the healthy food habits and nutritional values of different food items.
It was suggested that nodal agency to monitor and regulate BC sub plan be created. Ministers P Pulla Rao, Ravela Kishore Babu, P Sunitha, Sidda Raghava Rao, Kollu Ravindra and higher officials were also present.
