ABN Andhra Jyothi won the second edition of the TN Pillay Memorial Inter-media Cricket Trophy, organised jointly by EMSJA and Sports Coaching Foundation (SCF), at the latter’s Sports Complex in Masab Tank late Sunday evening.

They defeated Namaste Telangana by 13 runs after first making 90 for the loss of two wickets. The opponents could only manage 77 for three in their chase. The six-a-side two-day event featured 24 teams drawn from print and electronic media.

Later, A Dinakar Babu, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS), distributed prizes and appreciated the efforts of President of India medal winner and founder-Secretary of the Foundation K Sai Baba for having organised over 600 free-entry tournaments.

Sai Baba reassured to continue with the conduct of tournaments for underprivileged children and youth, including putting in place infrastructural facilities in government schools.

In befitting gestures, the occasion’s high-points were the felicitation for Valentine Wilson, a former Sports Editor of Deccan Chronicle and a contemporary of TN Pillay and institution of Srinivasulu Memorial Award for the player of the tournament and Jayaprakash Memorial Award for the player of the final.

The Srinivasulu Memorial Award was given to Santosh from Namaste Telangana while Ramesh from the champion outfit received the Jayaprakash Memorial Award.
