Vijayawada: In an indirect attack on Jana Sena Party founder Pawan Kalyan , BJP national executive member and MLC Somu Veerraju demanded that those who drew parallels between Jallikattu agitation in Tamil Nadu and Special Category Status withdraw their comments.

Speaking to media persons at BJP State office here on Tuesday, Veerraju said that whoever wishes to ignite sentiments among people over SCS, they should know the facts and figures on the initiatives taken by NDA government at the Centre for the development of the State.

“Some are making allegations that Centre is showing discrimination against southern States. They should withdraw such comments and know that it is the BJP which fought in Parliament for the cause of AP, when the AP Reorganisation Bill came up for discussion.

Even the TDP had not raised any demands at the time and confined itself to demand for equal justice. Y Sujana Choudary and C M Ramesh gagged themselves with black cloth and staged protests in Rajya Sabha instead of demanding justice to the State,” Veerraju said.

He advised some political parties not to try to indulge in politics by igniting sentiments and also suggested to opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and discuss SCS instead of provoking people.

Arguing that Andhra Pradesh is getting more funds that what it would have got if it had been accorded special status, Veerraju said SCS being enjoyed by some of the States would come to an end in a couple of months.

He came down heavily on the State government for neglecting BJP cadre in the State, where they are not getting importance compared with TDP leaders despite both parties being allies and coalition partners in the government.
