New Delhi: Dr K V P Ramachandra Rao, Congress MP, who is fighting for Special Category Status for AP over the past two years through a Private Member's Bill in the Rajya Sabha said here on Tuesday that it was very depressing to note that the address of President, Pranab Mukherjee, in the Joint Session of Parliament on Tuesday had no reference whatsoever on the implementation of A P Reorganisation Act, 2014 and the assurances given by the then Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh, in the Rajya Sabha.
The Congress party and the people were with a fond hope that the Centre would include the Status of Implementation of the Act in the presidential address to prove its determination to fulfil the promises made to Andhra Pradesh including Special Category Status.
But, the Government had failed to prove its commitment and ignored concerns of people of Andhra Pradesh regarding the development of the state consequent to bifurcation, he said.
