Tadepalligudem: The local scribes remembered the services of late senior journalist, freedom fighter Yaddanapudi Suryanarayana Murthy on his sixth death anniversary on Tuesday.

A function was held under the aegis of Tadepalligudem Press Club and APUWJ at Mandal Parishad meeting hall here. The journalists earlier garlanded the statue of Yaddanapudi Suryanarayana Murthy (YSN) at the Taluk Office centre and paid tributes.

YSN worked in The Mail and The Indian Express from 1950 besides serving the society through his activities, the speakers recollected.

Senior journalist S Gurunath stated that YSN was a role model to the present journalists, who fought for the cause of the people.

APUWJ former President D Somasundar stated that the departed Journalist served the people of Tadepalligudem and succeeded in getting a bus complex, halts for various express trains as the town is an important centre.

He also worked as advisory board member of Telecom and contributed his services to the people, he recollected.

He said that the Tadepalligudem Press Club and the family members of YSN constituted an award in his name and every year a Best Journalist Award, a cash prize of Rs 5116 is being presented to the journalists who wrote good articles on social problems.

Freedom fighter Pratti Seshaiah remembered his association with YSN who was his classmate and participated in the freedom struggle. He said the young journalists should take him as an idol to work with commitment.
