For entertainment-starved Vijayawadites, who visit Berm Park and Punnami Ghat to spend some time with their families, the AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is planning to set up food courts along Krishna riverfront. It has invited branded food makers to serve aroma-filled food to the visitors.

A food court under construction behind regional science centre will be a serious effort to satisfy the taste buds of the citizens, who have little options to spend memorable evenings. Venders and mobile canteens will also be encouraged to make visitors happy with their wide range of lip-smacking delicacies.

Nature lovers can watch the picturesque sunset at Berm Park and Punnami Ghat. The tourism department will be operating a boat service in the Krishna River. Bhavani Island is another attraction for someone looking for a special experience. An amphitheatre and other activities keep visitors occupied. The decision of the APTDC to invite food courts, may increase crowds.

General manager Ramakrishna informed The Hans India that there is a steady increase in visitors. The crowd might increase once the ongoing Durga Temple flyover is completed. He said when light vehicles were allowed from temple side to Punnami Ghat, the rush at Berm Park was on the rise. More people visited these places during the air show. The rush of students is high during these events. He said that they were expecting a surge of visitors during the navy show on February 4 and 5.

Assessing growth of tourists turning up at these places, Ramakrishna said that they witnessed growth of up to 20 to 30 per cent in boating. Berm Park is equipped with a play area. Tourists can arrange for a nights stay In Bhavani Island as well. Water sports are another attraction at the island. Now, the officials are busy making arrangements for the navy show, where students can witness many items on display by the defence forces.
