Vijayawada: City Congress president Malladi Vishnu alleged that TDP MPs were not keen on exerting pressure on the Union government in getting sufficient funds to AP in the Budget.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Vishnu said the Telugu Desam MPs had failed to achieve Special Category Status (SCS) to the State and made propaganda that the special package announced by the Union government would replace the benefits of SCS. But, they even failed to secure legal sanctity to the package.

Vishnu said the ruling party MPs were ignoring the benefits which can be availed as per the AP Reorganisation Act- 2013.

“The Union government allotted nominal funds to Polavaram and other projects in the 2016 Budget as the TDP MPs and State government accorded priority to the interests of party than the interests of the State,” he alleged.

He said the ruling party MPs from different States meet various Union Ministers before budget in general to achieve more benefits to their respective States but the story was different in Andhra Pradesh.
