​Polavaram: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reiterated that no injustice would be done to the farmers who sacrifice their lands for the Polavaram irrigation project for the future of the State.

The Chief Minister, who reached Polavaram project site near Ramayyapeta village in Polavaram mandal at 11.20, performed puja at the diaphragm wall site to mark the launch of works. Later, he launched the construction works of crest gates of the project and inspected the huge machinery deployed at the construction site.

The contracting agency engineers and irrigation engineers explained to the Chief Minister the ongoing works and showed the photo exhibition on the project.

The Chief Minister addressed farmers who came from Denduluru constituency along with Government Whip Chintamaneni Prabhakar. He said that with the launch of construction works of diaphragm wall and crest gates, all works have been started for the Polavaram irrigation project.

He said that the future generations would remember the sacrifices of the farmers who gave land to the project. “The government will not do injustice to the farmers. They sacrificed their lands for the project. If necessary, we will pay the higher amount to them,” he reiterated.

The Chief Minister further said, “You have now seen the launch of project works. After one month, visit the site again and you can see a miracle here.”

The diaphragm wall construction which is crucial and heart of the project will be taken up with the special technology from Germany, he said and added that construction of 48 crest gates has to be taken up.

The Chief Minister lambasted opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy saying, “You have read in epics that rakshasas (demons) always foil the yagnas conducted by rushis. Likewise, here in our State, those rakshasas (demons) are trying to create hurdles to the yagna, the development of the State.”
