New budget disappoints AP PR Chamber

Payakaraopet (Visakhapatnam): Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Chamber was disappointed with the Union Budget as there was no allocation of budget for local bodies, said AP PR Chamber president and MLC Y B Rajendra Prasad.

Rajendra Prasad, who visited S Rayavaram mandal near here on Wednesday, the birth place of Maha Kavi Gurajada Appa Rao, told reporters that they have pinned high hopes on the current budget with regard to the allocation of funds.

He alleged that due to lack of proper duties, responsibilities and funds, the elected MPTC and ZPTC members remained as mute sepctators. In last August, a high-level team from the AP PR Chamber met the Union Ministers and submitted representations seeking 14th Finance Commissioner funds directly to the local bodies on par with sarpanches.
