Kurnool: Transgenders have been demanding allocation of over Rs 4000 crore fund for the welfare of their community all over the country and sought quota for them in government jobs. They have been seeking support from the Central government to enable them to stand on their legs.

Talking to The Hans India, they said the allocation of Rs 1.5 crore in the last year’s Union budget was meagre. They demand higher allocations for their welfare in the Union budget. The quantum was insufficient. There were precedents of transgenders, who have been facing discrimination in society, rendering justice to voters upon elections to political posts. Sometimes, people regard a transgender leader is comparatively better.

The transgenders, who are tax payers, have been questioning the Centre about their share of allocations in the Union budget. They demanded the government to issue ration cards, Aadhaar cards and extend all rights guaranteed under the Constitution to them just as in the case of Kerala, Rajasthan, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
