Eluru: The District Collector warned the beneficiaries and officials that if any beneficiary is found to be violating the terms and conditions while availing the subsidy, the guilty would be sent to jail.

Further, the claimed subsidy would be recovered under the Revenue Recovery Act, the Collector said. The Collector’s comments while reviewing the implementation of welfare schemes in the district at a meeting at a meeting with officials held here at the Collectorate on Thursday.

Addressing the meeting, the Collector said that the government was extending a subsidised financial assistance of Rs.200 crore to 35,000 poor families for their social upliftment.

There were instances of loan subsidy being misused in the past and warned officials and beneficiaries of taking strict action against them if such irregularities came to the fore again, he warned.

The Collector directed the officials to see that every sanctioned unit sees its reality. Further, the rules in respect of sanctioning of 35,000 units have been liberalised and Rs.200 crore towards subsidy would be given to the beneficiaries.

Each beneficiary unit along with the bank representatives should be photographed by the concerned Mandal officer and this will be geo-tagged to extend the financial assistance to the beneficiary at his door step.

He directed the bankers to sanction loans without putting up too much conditionality. After sanctioning the loan subsidy, the bankers and mandal officers should visit the established unit to check the working performance of the unit, the Collector added.

Detailing the number of beneficiaries, the Collector said that a total of 35,000 beneficiaries have been identified of which 17,000 beneficiaries by the Kapu Corporation, 10,000 by the BC Corporation, 6000 by the SC Corporation, 2,000 by the Minority and Tribal Corporation and the sanctioned units will be handed over to the beneficiaries by March.

Additional Joint Collector MH Sheriff, SC, BC Corporation Executive Directors Jhansi Rani, Pushpalatha, Lead Bank Manager M Subrahmanyeswara Rao, Minorities Corporation Officer Shastry also took part in the review.
