Puttaparthi (Anantapur): Information and Minorities Welfare Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy has distributed newly sanctioned old age pensions to 1,882 women in Kothacheruvu, Nallamada, Obuladeva Cheruvu, Amadaguru, Bukkapatnam and Puttaparthi mandals here on Thursday.

Addressing the beneficiaries and the people, Palle stated that the Chief Minister is working towards elimination of poverty in the State.

The Chief Minister kept his promises by waiving of farm loans of 47 lakh farmers worth Rs 6,000 crore and DWCRA loans worth Rs 13,000 crore to 70 lakh women, he added.

The Minister said that under the Chandranna Bima scheme, beneficiaries have to pay a premium of Rs 15 only.

In case someone could not pay it, the Minister offered to pay the amount for them. Palle said that former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao was the architect of the equal property rights legislation and also the 33 percent reservation to women in local bodies.
