Visakhapatnam: The attack on Odisha State Armed Police at Sunki which killed eight personnel and injured five, indicated that the Maoists are regaining their ground after the Ramaguda encounter in which 30 Maoists were killed.

After the encounter, the police presumed the entire leadership of the Malkangiri-Koraput-Vizag-Border (MKVB) division of the Maoist has been wiped out.

Senior police officials are suspecting that Maoists from Srikakulam-Koraput (SK) Division might have blown up the police vehicle. Reports from Odisha said that now the SK Division is being headed by Suresh and Aruna, who is the wife of Central Committee Member Ramachandra Reddy Pratapa Reddy alias Chalapathi.

A senior police officer said that the encounter in Ramaguda in the cut-off area of (AOB) was the biggest loss to the outlawed CPI (Maoist) in 40 years of revolutionary struggle in India as 30 red-rebels including some top Maoist leaders were gunned down by the security forces.

After the Ramaguda encounter, Maoist top leader Chalapathi has been shifted from Chhattisgarh to revive the movement in AOB and he has been made in-charge of the State Military Commission.
