Kadiri: In an incident that would put the humanity to shame, an 80-year-old man was confined to a tiny shed made of wood and tin under a tree in Titanic Colony of the town by his sons and relatives.

He lived in the tiny box like structure for about a month before the police could rescue him. At last, he was freed with the police intervention on a tip off by The Hans India. His relatives were counseled and let off with a severe warning asking them not to repeat it.

The aged man was identified as Bashu Saab. He has had six sons all of whom live in the town. They confined them to a box-like structure built in the open air regarding him as an eyesore to the family on personal hygiene grounds.

He was fed twice daily and was not allowed to go out even to ease himself. His sons thought allowing him to live with them as a burden.

The neighbours have been taking note of the developments but turned a blind eye to it. The old man protested against his sons’ behaviour and breaks down at his plight as none bothered to take care of him in spite of having near and dear. The Hans India complained to the police about the plight of the aged man. The police, led by local SI Gopaludu, got him freed and counseled his sons and relatives and cautioned them against imprisoning him. He asked them to allow him to live the aged man along with them.

The SI got the temporary shed removed. He warned the family members of stern action if the incident was repeated. He appreciated The Hans India for bringing such an incident to the light. The residents of the town appreciating the media unit for helping the senior citizen liberated from punishment meted out to him by his family members.
