Visakhapatnam: To encourage and promote cashless transactions among the public and to build corrupt-free society, Digi Dhan Mela was organised at Viswapriya Function Hall on the beach road here on Friday, said HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao after inaugurating the mela.

After visiting various stalls put up at the mela, the Minister examined how the essential commodities are being distributed basing on cashless transactions.

The SBI, Canara Bank, Andhra Bank and other 27 banks besides important digital service providers like National Payments Corporation, Geo Money and IDFC set up stalls to educate the public on cashless transactions.

Along with these stalls, centres of common services, Mee Seva and Aadhaar card registration were also set up to provide service to the visitors.

Some of the bankers displayed their mobile ATMs in the mela to educate the customers on the digital transactions. Collector Praveen Kumar, Joint Collector G Srujana, Assistant Collector C M Saikanth Varma, Neeti Ayog official Praveen Malik, Municipal Commissioner M Harinarayanan, VUDA Additional Vice-Chairman Ramesh, secretary Srinivas, executive officers of endowments K Ramachandra Mohan, S J Madhavi, N Sujatha and M Neelima were present.
