Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao on Friday said the unified service rules for municipal employees were brought in for replicating best practices adopted in some of the civic bodies.

Speaking at a function to release the diary of municipal officers on Friday, Rama Rao said the role of municipal employees in urban development was important.

He said it was heartening to note that the employees were supporting the move of the government to bring in transparency and accountability in the system.

“Employees are working in the same manner in which they fought for the separate State agitation. Our government is an employee-friendly government,” said the Minister.

The Minister said there were many instances where a single Municipal Commissioner had made huge difference in the municipality.

He said the best practices like these should be implemented in other municipalities also. The Minister said that government would take up one-day training for the Municipal Commissioners by organisations like ASCI.

He said the training would be on the lines of the one being provided to the Civil Service Offices. He asked the employees to bring to the notice any issue with regard to the service rules to the Department Secretary.

He said the Chief Minister was serious on the development of urban areas along with the prestigious programmes like Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha.

MA&UD secretary Navin Mittal said the government was taking all steps to provide better transportation facilities as per the future needs of the city.

The Secretary had a meeting with the Lee Associates here at Secretariat. He discussed about the best practices being carried out in foreign countries.
