Tirupati: The three-day National Women’s Parliament (NWP) to be held in Amaravati from February 10 was to give the much needed fillip to the efforts to ensure gender justice and enhance women participation in all fields and spheres of life, said Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Rao. Speaking to the media here on Saturday before flagging of an awareness rally on women empowerment organised by Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) as a build up to NWP, Speaker said NWP will facilitate an interaction between women from diverse backgrounds like politics, social sector, education, sports and industry etc.

The Assembly Speaker dwelled at length on the details of the daily schedule, topics of discussions and also the prominent persons participating in the three-day meet. He said probably it was for the first time such meeting is being held in the State for encouraging women participation d by the Speaker along with Ministers Palle Raghunatha Reddy, Peethala Sujatha and TDP leaders including MLAs. SPMVV and Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) Vice-Chancellors V Durga Bhavani and A Damodaram respectively and others were present. In the rally held later, large number of women and students from various colleges in the pilgrim city took part.
