Ongole MP issues privilege notice to Vizag police

Ongole: Ongole MP Y V Subbaeddy issued a notice of privilege under rule 223 of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Lok Sabha against AS Khan, DCP, Airport City,Visakhapatnam, Chitti Babu, DSP and his subordinate inspectors, sub-inspectors and constables.

He complained to the Lok Sabha Speaker that the police officers intentionally, wilfully and physically prevented him from going out of Visakhapatnam airport on January 26, 2017 by forming a human chain.

He said that he, along with his party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy and other colleagues in the party, arrived at Visakhapatnam airport to participate in the silent candle light rally arranged by the students and youth demanding Special Category Status to the state.

He complained that when they disembarked from the aircraft, they were surrounded by a group of people, who appear to be goons, but not police, separated and pushed them from other passengers.

He complained that the people who surrounded them are led by Chitti Babu on instructions of AS Khan.

He also complained that the CISF personnel and duty staff of AAI failed in their duty and local police trespassed into airport and blocked their entry into arrival terminal.

The MP urged the Speaker to refer the matter to the Privileges Committee for examination and report within a timeframe and demanded stringent action against the police officials for unruly behaviour, use of abusive language and physically assaulting him.
