Penukonda (Anantapur): District Collector Kona Sasidhar has vowed to develop the historical town of Penukonda and revive its ancient glory. He said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has promised to release Rs 25 crore for developing a tourist circuit integrating Lepakshi, Penukonda and Puttaparthi.

Participating in a series of foundation laying ceremonies along with local MLA B K Parthasarathy and ZP Chairman Chaman Saab on the Penukonda-Bengaluru national highway here on Saturday, Sasidhar said that the statue of Krishnadevaraya will be beautified and illumination works will be taken up with Rs 15 lakh, welcome arch construction with Rs 40 lakh and construction of Lakshminarayana Swamy temple park with Rs 30 lakh. He said that Handri Neeva water coming to Gollapalle reservoir would facilitate agriculture, industrial and tourism development. It would also help fill 250 tanks in the region, he added.

Parthasarathy thanked the Chief Minister for all the support being given for his constituency development. He said that a tar road is being laid to the hill top where the fort is located and Rs 75 lakh for illumination. A drinking water scheme is also being executed at a cost of Rs 1.25 crore. ZP chairman Chaman Saab also spoke.
