Visakhapatnam: YSR Congress Party will conduct padayatra from Anakapalli to Bhimunipatnam from March 9 covering about 250 km under the
leadership of party district president Gudivada Amarnath to exert pressure on the Central and State governments for Special Category Status
(SCS) and a separate railway zone for Vizag.

This was stated by party senior leader Botcha Satyanarayana here at a press conference on Saturday.

He said that all the six crore population of Andhra Pradesh especially north Andhra people pinned high hopes on the issue of separate railway
zone to be announced in the Central Budget. “When our party Rajya Sabha MP questioned in Parliament about the separate railway zone for
Vizag, Railway Minister replied that a committee was constituted and basing on the report, it would be decided.

Stating that all Opposition parties, mass organisations, student and other organisations were unitedly demanding the railway zone, he said and
added that it is unfortunate that there was not even a mention of it in the budget.

Elaborating on the objective of the padayatra, Satyanarayana said to highlight the aspirations of the people to both the Central and State
governments about the railway zone. He also found fault with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who was claiming that the Centre has been
funding to the State more than that of the SCS. He demanded the Centre announce the long pending demands by the end of the current
Parliament session failing which the party will intensify the agitation, he warned. District president Gudivada Amarnath and others were present.
