Kakinada: Movie artiste Kajol Agarwal called upon the youth to keep away from the dreaded disease cancer.

Speaking at an awareness programme on ‘cancer’ organized here by Surya Global Hospital on Saturday, she advised the youth not to get
addicted to alcoholism and smoking as both these are the twin dangerous elements involved in cancer.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa said that the State government had initiated several measures to
diagnosis the disease at the early stages to deal with the dreaded ailment in an effective way. Also, special focus has been made in regard to
insurance coverage as well, added the Deputy CM.

Managing Director of Surya Global Hospital Dr Bh Veerraju said that out of 10 lakh cancer cases that are witnessing every year, 50 percent
deaths are occurring due to lack of awareness on cancer.

Broad awareness together with early detection will definitely help in bringing down this number, he remarked.

Prior to this, a rally was organized through the main streets of the city. Kakinada Rural MLA, P Anantalakshmi and others participated in the
rally.
