Pithapuram: In a novel form of protest, local Kapu leaders broke coconuts here on Saturday praying God to give good sense (Sadbuddhi) to the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Highlighting the government’s dillydallying on the issue of according BC status to Kapu community, a protest rally was taken out by the members of Kapu Sadbhavana Sangham near Ramalayam theatre in the city. Also, the protesters offered prayers at Pedda Church and Kothulagudem Dargah of the city.

Addressing the gathering, Kapu leaders accused Naidu of showing apathy on his promise of including the Kapu community in the BC list. They recalled that the CM rode to power on this promise with the support of Kapu community. They said that the breaking of coconut was done to make the CM to wise in honoring the Kapus.

The leaders alleged that the police had registered cases although the protest was carried out peacefully. The leaders sharply criticised the government saying that the prevailing conditions in the State are worse than those experienced during the Emergency time. Among those who took part in the demonstrations were the former minister K V Ch Mohan Rao, municipal floor leader Gandepalli Babi, Talisetty Venkateswara Rao, Balipalli Rambabu, Bojja Ramayya, Kondepudi Sankar Rao, Bathula Nagasai, Sankar Rao, Karri Rambabu, Rachamallu Venkat Rao, Ravva Bhaskar Rao.
