​Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said Visakhapatnam will soon emerge as the headquarters for Indian Navy.

He was the chief guest at the Navy Show organised in River Krishna at Punnami Ghat here on Saturday.

After witnessing the show, he appreciated the Navy officials for making the demonstration more interesting.

He said he never witnessed such an impressive show earlier. The show would inculcate a sense of patriotism among the viewers.

Naidu said the demonstration had shed light on the role played by Navy personnel during crisis. It showcased the valour of the Defence personnel during crisis, he opined.

He lauded the Navy officers for choosing Krishna river for the show as the ambience was unique. The credit of linking Rivers Godavari and Krishna solely goes to the TDP government, he said.

He promised to build Capital Amaravati as one of the beautiful cities in the world. Tourism development would be accorded top priority, he added.

The Chief Minister announced that three bridges would come up on River Krishna. The Navy Show attracted large crowds and caused traffic jams at key locations in the city. The show began with Chetak and Charlee choppers of Vizag naval base carrying Tricolour from the west direction.

The combat formation manoeuvres were special attraction. Rotate manoeuvre, rescue operation by Chetak, para sailing, slithering operation, oil rig blow up, commando rescue operation, beach attack by marine commandos, crisscross water scooter manoeuvre and other features enthralled huge crowds that gathered at Punnami Ghat and Berm Park.

Chandrababu Naidu took part in sailing parade and waved to the gathering during the show. Five tunes by naval band filled the air with wonderful music.

A documentary on naval operations also attracted attention of the gathering. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Vice-Admiral H C S Bisht of Eastern Naval Command during the entire navy show.
