Following the violation of Prohibitory Orders, police arrested Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary P Madhu and 42 party activists at Nagavarappadu and sent them to Gudivada 1 Town police station on Monday while they were proceeding to Ilaparru village in Nandivada mandal for participating in the Dalits agitation.

​Vijayawada: Following the violation of Prohibitory Orders, police arrested Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary P Madhu and 42 party activists at Nagavarappadu and sent them to Gudivada 1 Town police station on Monday while they were proceeding to Ilaparru village in Nandivada mandal for participating in the Dalits agitation.

Police department imposed 144 section in Ilaparru village to maintain law and order where Dalits were conducting agitation on 167 acres of aqua farm lands which they owned earlier.

When the CPM leaders and activists were proceeding to Ilaparru to express solidarity to the agitation, the police took them into custody.

Police also arrested about 70 farmers and CPM activists at Ilaparru and shifted them to Nandivada police station.

Speaking to the media persons before arrest Madhu alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is trying to snub the people`s agitation with the support of police.

He warned that they will recover the 165 acres of fish farms of Dalits which were occupied by landlords. He said that the British government had allotted agricultural lands to the Dalits in 1924.

It may be recalled Ilaparru village Dalits along with Left party leaders have been staging agitations for getting back their lands which were under the control of land lords who were cultivating fish farms.
