Uravakonda (Anantapur): YSRCP supremo and Leader of the Opposition in Assembly Y S Jaganmohan Reddy lashed out at Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for trying to claim credit for the various irrigation projects, including Handri- Neeva, Galeru-Nagari, Pothireddypadu and Telugu Ganga which were completed 80 to 90 per cent during the tenure of YSR. He said Naidu couldn’t complete the remaining 10 to 20 per cent works in the last 3 years.

Addressing a massive gathering at the 'Maha Dharna' organised by the YSRCP in Uravakonda town on Monday, Jagan said that Naidu was wrongly claiming credit for the schemes initiated and taken up YSR.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Says 80 per cent works for projects like Handri-Neeva, Galeru-Nagari, Pothireddypadu were initiated and taken up under the tenure of YSR
  • Claims that Naidu couldn’t complete even remaining 10 to 20 per cent remaining works for the above projects

While YSR spent Rs 4,000 crore for the Handri-Neeva Phase 1 and 2 works, Naidu had spent just Rs 24 crore for the project during his 9-year stint as the Chief Minister.

Even after a lapse of 3 years, the 20 per cent of works of any project including Handri-Neeva could not be completed, he maintained.

The total estimate of the project is Rs 4,750 crore and said that a mere Rs 100 crore was allocated for the project in 2014-15, Rs 380 crore in 2015-16 and Rs 504 crore in 2016-17. “This speaks volumes of his commitment to irrigation development and farmers welfare,” Jagan added.

He took a dig Naidu’s claims as Pedanna and Pedda Koduku of every house and asked if the Pedda Koduku had waived their agriculture loans, DWRCRA loans or credited the employment allowance of Rs 2,000 per month in unemployed youth.

He went hammer and tongs against the Naidu for befriending the Centre and betraying the people by being subservient to the Prime Minister Modi and unable to demand anything from the Centre. He is also soft towards Telangana Chief Minister KCR despite injustice being meted out to AP to save his skin in cash-for-vote case.

Later, Uravakonda MLA Visveshwara Reddy accused the chief minister of being outrightly partisan towards Uravakonda since it happened to have elected an YSRC MLA.

“People demands for houses, house sites, latrines and water were ignored by Naidu since it elected YSRCP MLA,” he alleged and said even funds for backward region development have not be allocated to Uravakonda.
