Guntur: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that he urged legal sanctity for Special Package announced by the Centre to AP and asserted that he would not compromise with Centre on the issue.

He said benefits of Special Category Status or Special Package were the same, due to some problems, the Centre had given special package to AP.

“So what is wrong in accepting the special package,” he asked. The CM inaugurated Old Guntur Model Police Stations at Nagarampalem constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore in Guntur city on Monday.

Later, addressing a public meeting at Police Parade Grounds, he reiterated that the government will complete the Polavaram project within the stipulated time and reminded that they had already completed the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme and supplied water for kharif.

He further said that after completion of Polavaram Project, the government will interlink the rivers to resolve irrigation and drinking water problems in the State.

The CM stressed on efficiency of leadership for the development of State.”If CM is efficient, the State will develop. Similarly, if a Minister is efficient, that particular department will work better,” he stated.

He said that the government had given women 33 per cent reservation in constable recruitment and giving reservations in RTC conductors’ recruitment too.

He expressed confidence that women RTC drivers would increase in the days to come and explained welfare schemes introduced by government for women.

The CM said the State government has introduced bio-metric system in the schools and now parents will get information, whether their children attended to school or not.

Similarly, the government given web cameras to the police officials, he said. "If police harass anyone, they will get video record, similarly, anybody harasses the cop, it will also be recorded,” he said.
