Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said the creation of railway zone for AP in line with the AP State Reorganisation Act was non-negotiable.

Speaking at a meeting of Heads of Departments on the eve of the Budget Session, Naidu emphasised the need for a legal sanctity for the special package of the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for the truncated state.

“I am waiting with a positive mind for the Centre’s response on its assurances such as resource-filling to bridge the revenue deficit along with railway zone and legal sanctity for the package”, he observed. In this connection the CM took stock of the flow of funds from the Centre under different heads such as family development and pulse survey.

Naidu urged the Centre to expedite the process for release of funds under certain heads, saying the upcoming financial year is crucial to the state. He was hopeful of receiving more tax revenues as the share of Andhra Pradesh from the Centre through GST(Goods and Services Tax).

The Union Budget’s move to allocate funds department-wise instead of state-wise as was the practice in the past is a welcome sign, Naidu said.

The Centre’s efforts to let tax collections go online will ensure transparency in the whole process and check tax evasions, he added.

The CM exuded confidence that the state will continue to ensure double digit growth regardless of constraints and roadblocks.
