The passport officials have found that these agents are making Rs 1,000 from each application.

Recently it came to their notice that a student at Passport Seva Kendra, enquired about the fee structure for a passport. When she was informed that the fee was Rs1,500, she told them that she was charged Rs 2,500 for making the application on her college premises.

On further interrogation, the passport officials found that somebody under the banner of Passport Online Services visited MVGR College of Engineering, Vizianagaram and approached the college authorities for making online applications for passport to the students of the college.

On getting permission from the college authorities, they put up a camp on the college premises for almost one week and made passport online applications for the students of the college.

They charged Rs 2,500 per application and in all they made more than 200 applications.
