Kanchi seer to launch gold plating works of Rajagopuram today

The 69th Kanchi Seer Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamy will formally launch the gold plating works of Rajagopuram of Kanchi Kamakshi temple and perform Ashtabandhanasahita Mahakumbhabhishekam at the world famous temple in Kanchi on Thursday.
​Vijayawada: The 69th Kanchi Seer Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamy will formally launch the gold plating works of Rajagopuram of Kanchi Kamakshi temple and perform Ashtabandhanasahita Mahakumbhabhishekam at the world famous temple in Kanchi on Thursday.
The activities are being taken up to give a facelift to the ancient temple. The seer is personally supervising all arrangements for conducting the events.
The legend is that Jagadguru Adisankaracharyulu installed Srichakram in front of the deity’s idol at the temple.
The sixth century temple was built by the Pallava rulers. The Goddess in the temple – Kamakshi Devi – is described as the incarnation of both Goddess Lakshmi and Saraswathi.
