Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has taken decision to start 100 new gurukul schools for extending benefit to 1 lakh students.

In a review meeting with Social Welfare department officials held at Velagapudi here on Thursday, the CM asked the officials to provide common hostel facility for SC, ST and BCs.

The government decided to arrange corpus fund to give bank guarantee for SC, ST students who want to study in foreign countries. The government would implement biometric system in the gurukul schools from March 1.

Besides, the government would lay the foundation stone on April 14 for Ambedkar memorial building which would be constructed in Amaravati capital city on the occasion of birth anniversary celebrations of Dr Ambedkar.

The Chief Minister instructed the officials to finalize designs for Alluri Seetarama Raju memorial tribal museum and also directed the officials to complete the works by October next year. The government expected to complete the project with cost of Rs 50 crore.

Minister Ravela Kishore Babu, SC Finance Commission chairman Jupudi Prabhkar and several senior officials were also present in the meeting.
