Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is conducting National Women’s Parliament (NWP) by spending crores of rupees, but failed to provide employment to women in the city, opined women leaders of Opposition parties.

The women in Vijayawada are facing economical disparities at working places, including construction sector, which led to financial crisis among the poor families, they said.

In the backdrop of NWP being held in the city from Friday, The Hans India spoke to the women leaders of Opposition parties here on Thursday.

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation YSRCP floor leader Punyaseela said that Special Category Status would reduce the unemployment in the state and Telugu Desam Party leaders should fight for Special Category Status against the Union government.

“The State government should implement Kutira Lakshmi scheme for encouraging women towards business and TDP MPs should support the women reservation bill in Parliament for encouraging women in the politics,” she said.

CPI Krishna district secretary Akkineni Vanaja said that the State and Union governments should appoint Judges in all the courts for clearing the pending cases to help women.

“The state government should accord priority to women’s welfare in the budget for their empowerment. The Chief Minster neglected the self-help group (SHG) members and failed to implement loan waiver to SHGs”, she slammed.

State Mahila Congress president Sunkara Padmasree said that the BJP and TDP governments cheated the women and said that the Chief Minister was focusing only on like Navy, Air shows and NWP for diverting the women and farmers’ problems in the state.

She further stated that TDP is conducting the NWP for gaining political mileage,” she added.

YSRCP women wing leader Sri Lakshmi termed the NWP as an eye wash event as the government would not change the fate of women in the state, she opined.

Former MP Chennupati Vidya said that the state government is conducting NWP as an event in the disguise of empowering the women in the country. She termed NWP as an election stunt.
