Vijayawada: In honour of mothers, the State government will soon start a programme ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ (Greetings to Mother) in all schools and colleges, announced Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu while addressing the valedictory of the National Women’s Parliament here on Sunday.

He said that as part of respecting the motherhood, the mothers will be invited to the schools and colleges where all children, both boys and girls, will cleanse the feet of their mother and seek their blessings.

The programme will be chalked out very soon and on one day during every year the programme will be conducted, he added.

While assuring women that he will fight for getting 33 per cent reservation in Parliament, Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council, he asserted political power is supreme which will empower women.

The issue of women reservation will be taken up as a campaign and he will mobilise the support of all political parties for getting the bill passed in Parliament.

He said that other States should also come forward to conduct National Women’s Parliament every year. It should become a national movement for the cause of women.
