​Vijayawada: Director General of Police N Sambasiva Rao said on Monday the police department was identifying department lands to utilise them for commercial purposes to generate Rs 100 crore revenue to the department per year.

The DGP conducted a review meeting with the senior officials and discussed the feasibility of developing the police department lands for commercial purposes.

The DGP had instructed all the district superintendents of police in the State to identify the lands that can be used for commercial purposes and send a report to the head office in 30 days.

He further said proposals had been made for allocation of 50 per cent revenue to the district offices and the remaining to be taken by the head office.

Sambasiva Rao said the smart cards would be issued to the police staff and health check ups would be conducted regularly. He informed that 40 vehicles would be purchased to check accidents on the roads.
