Visakhapatnam: Avadhanula Aja Sarma supported by over 216 Udyoga, Upadhyaya, Karmika Sanghams filed his nomination papers, along with affidavits disclosing assets in Farm-26, to Returning Officer and Collector Praveen Kumar here on the second day of receiving nominations on Tuesday.
This was the first nomination filed by Aja Sarma so far for the MLC North Coastal Andhra Graduates constituency.
Accompanied by a large number of leaders of various trade unions and members of North Andhra Udyoga, Upadhyaya, Karmika, Pensioners Graduates’ Associations Aikya Vedika, the candidate reached the Collectorate from B R Ambedkar statue at the LIC Square in a rally to file the nomination papers.
Aja Sarma flanked by MLCs M V S Sarma, Rama Surya Rao and others submitted his papers which were examined by Additional Returning Officer C Chandrasekhara Reddy and election wing staff.
Over 2,000 persons from the trade unions of LIC, banks, RTC, teachers, advocates, Central Government Pensioners’ Association, Insurance, Banks’ Pensioners’ Association and District Medical Representatives’ Association participated in the rally.
Aja Sarma declared in the affidavit that he has Rs 5,000 as cash in hand, his spouse K Padma having Rs 5,000 cash in hand and having deposits in banks, including FDRs and term deposits to the tune of Rs 11,26,372 and Rs 4,00,000 as deposits with financial institutions and non-banking financial companies, while his spouse has no such deposits.
About the investment in bonds, debentures, shares and units, he said he has investments worth Rs 1,00,000 besides a two-wheeler worth Rs 40,000, thus, he is having a total assets and investments worth Rs 16,71,372.
About his spouse, he declared that she has investments in bonds and shares worth Rs 1,00,000, investments in NSS, postal savings and insurance worth Rs 2,00,000, a Swift var worth Rs 7,00,000, having 60 gms of gold worth Rs 1,62,000 and she is having total assets and investments worth Rs 11,67,000.
About the liabilities/dues to public financial institutions, Aja Sarma revealed that he has no such liabilities but his spouse has Rs 19,00,000 from the SBI, Seetammadhara branch.
