Kakinada: Nabard (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development] has extended ‘Dairy Entrepreneur Development Scheme ‘to all social sections up to March 31, 2017. Earlier, the scheme which was confined to SC, ST sections, now being extended to OC and BCs.
Kakinada: Nabard (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development] has extended ‘Dairy Entrepreneur Development Scheme ‘to all social sections up to March 31, 2017. Earlier, the scheme which was confined to SC, ST sections, now being extended to OC and BCs.
However, while OC and BC social sections are entitled for 25 per cent subsidy, the SC, ST social sections can avail 33 per cent. This makes Rs 1.50 lakh for OC and BC social sections and Rs 2 lakh for SC and STs on the total permitted limit of Rs 6 lakh for milch cattle.
According to details available, under this scheme 10 milch cattle or 20 calves can be purchased within the limit of Rs 6 lakh and Rs 5.20 lakh respectively.
Rs 60,000 for each milch cattle and Rs 26,000 for a calve will be permitted under this scheme. There is no age limit fixed by Nabard for extension of this loan facility.
However, there are widespared allegations that the bankers will not come forward for extension of loan under this scheme due to different reasons including the NPA aspect.
East Godavari Nabard AGM, Dr. K V S Prasad clarified that the subsidy part will be released after the banker’s release of first installment of the extended loan amount irrespective of number up to maximum permissible limit for both milch cattle and calves.
When contacted East Godavari lead bank district manager [LDM] , B V Subrahmanyam while denying the reports of non-cooperative attitude of bankers for milch cattle, clarified that different aspects will be taken in to consideration in sanctioning of loans for milch cattle.
These include the availability of site, the experience of the applicant in dairy activity and market potential in particular area for the sale of milk products as the extension of loan is for livestock.
After getting satisfactory feedback, the applicant will definitely be provided with loan facility for the dairy activity, the LDM clarified
