Chittoor: District Superintendent of Police (SP) G Srinivas said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had appreciated the Community Police Officers (CPOs) project of Chittoor police.

A demonstration by the CPOs was given recently at Kuppam in which the Chief Minister also took part, he added. Addressing a meeting held here on Friday, the SP said that the Chief Minister had paid extreme attention to the salient futures of the CPOs project and also interacted with the CPOs.

The district police official said that the Chief Minister was kind enough to inspect the Field Alert Centre for Operational Networking (FALCON) and also appreciating the team work of Mobile Command Post.

The SP stated that crime rate has dropped in the district due to active role played by the CPOs. The CPOs are involved in regulating traffic at main junctions, preventing attacks on women and diffusing tensions when law and order problems arise.

He said that training was imparted to the dedicated CPOs, who has brighter chances, in the selection of police constables.

He made it clear that all the CPOs were doing free service with a purpose of serving the society. ASP Abhishek Mohanty, DSP Lakshmi Naidu and I Town CI Vijaya kumar were present.
