Machilipatnam (Krishna): National and International Archers representing various universities of Uttar Pradesh excelled in All India Inter-University Archery Championship for Men and Women being conducted at Hindu College in Machilipatnam of Krishna district.

On Friday, the third day of the tournament, archers competed with other university archers for winning medals.
For the first time, 98 universities have been participating in the tournament and a huge competition was witnessed in each discipline.
Vijayawada girl and Koneru Lakshmaiah (KL) University archer V Jyothi Surekha won three gold medals in women’s compound event. She scored 338 points in first 50 and 344 points second 50 and she scored overall 682 points.
Jyothi Surekha continued in first position, while Y Anusha Reddy of Krishna University scored 644 points and continued in 14th rank. University of Calicut archer Ajith Babu won gold medal in men’s 50 mts event and overall gold, while Anees Yadav of Veer Bahadur Purvanchal University of Uttar Pradesh won silver and Sunil Kumar of Kirukshetra (Haryana) won bronze medal.
Similarly, in women’s section Uttar Pradesh’s archer Ritika Singh of Ch Charan Singh University (Meerut) won three gold medals in 50 mts, 30 mts and overall segments respectively.
The host Krishna University Vice-chancellor Prof S Rama Krishna Rao, Andhra Pradesh Archery Association secretary Cherukuri Satyanarayana and University Sports Board secretary Dr N Srinivasa Rao were present.

Individual round: Men 50 mts: Ajith Babu (University of Calicut), Anees Yadav (Veer Bahadur Purvanchal University, UP), Sunil Kumar (Kurukshetra, Haryana)
30 mts: Shivam (Sampurnanda Sanskrit, UP), Sh Girish Kudade (Santgadge Baba Amaravati), Sutar Dhananjay (Savitribai Phule, Pune)
Overall: Ajith Babu (University of Calicut), Anees Yadav (Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal, UP), Sutar Dhananjay (Savitribai Phule, Pune)
Olympic round individual: Beer Lal (MG Kashi Vidyaptith, UP), Aman Vedwan (Ch Charan Singh University, Meerut), Amith Kumar Singh (Venoba Bave University, Jharkhand)
